Community Master Plan
At the core of every community is its relationship with and to — with its surrounding communities and to the neighborhoods, groups and institutions that make it up. Isla Vista is not unlike other campus communities. But its particular setting and set of problems make it unique.
The CORR-idor concept (core = heart, door = opening) involves the unification of all that is important to Isla Vista — Life, Movement and Sustainability: To take the core of the existing neighborhoods and expand it throughout the site and have this core or spine also unite Isla Vista with the UCSB Campus and surrounding communities. The concept sees a unified community that is an integral part of the region — a place with identity within a larger community bound by the mountains and the ocean.

The CORR-idor Master Plan focuses on the strengthening of community through the development of program elements essential to each community group and to the larger region. Each group will develop a specific core program need, be it housing, recreation or community outreach which will form part of the larger spine or core development. The plan relies on the intensive interaction of community groups, the UCSB Campus, and local and regional state agencies.
