New Media Center — P.S. 45R di Domenico + Partners' relationship with the NYC SCA continues through 2009. The SCA recently assigned dD+P a new multi-media center for P.S. 45R. Located in Brooklyn, within an existing 4-story school building, the new 1500 sf renovation project design uses simple durable materials to provide a flexible and lively learning environment for K-5 and special education students. The renovation converts the school's existing library into a new cross-platform multi-media library. The new library allows teachers and children to participate interactively in learning activities through "whiteboard" technology, online access, and through a variety of audio, visual and digital resources, and book and printed collections. Included in the design are mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems upgrades, and new furnishings and finishes.
