The dD+P team is providing design services to the New York State Office of General Services and the Department of Parole for a facility housing the Office's new division in the Bronx.
Design requirements for the 45,000 SF new facility include the adaptive reuse and upgrade of the historic building and the upgrade of all existing building systems including heating, cooling, fire protection and state-of-the-art telecommunications.
The project required an extensive analysis of existing conditions and program to accommodate the security needs of the Parole Office and the Developers requirements for the remaining building space. The dD+P team also prepared various building upgrade reports addressing handicapped accessibility, fire ratings, egress requirements and energy efficiency. The final design recommendation provided a distinct separation between the Parole Office and remaining building program. Design elements incorporated security measures to direct, control and monitor visitors as well as articulate a design vocabulary that integrated the building into the surrounding neighborhood. |
