Atlantic Avenue Terminal Complex
Architecture and Adaptive Re-use
di Domenico + Partners is design leader of the Atlantic Avenue Terminal Complex. The ATC includes the Flatbush Terminal, for arrival and departure of the Atlantic Branch of the LIRR, the IRT Atlantic Avenue station and a major underground circulation system that links the IRT Atlantic Avenue Station with the BMT Fourth Avenue line - (Pacific Street station), and the BMT Brighton Line (Atlantic Avenue station) and the LIRR. The new Entry pavilion anchors the corner site and integrates new customer spaces, finishes and graphics throughout the complex.

dD+P has also restored the Times Plaza Kiosk at Atlantic Avenue Terminal to it's once elegant condition. The Kiosk is a major focal point of the Complex creating a spectacular skylight and source of fresh-air ventilation, which admits a shaft of light deep into the stations' passageway and provides a dramatic punctuation that serves as a timepiece for travelers and a way-finding marker at the arrival of a lower concourse that accesses the most heavily used Eastern Parkway IRT Line.

The dD+P design is a significant urban addition to an area of downtown Brooklyn once bustling with activity, at the crossroads of Flatbush and Atlantic Avenue, the Complex has the potential to become a significant focal point in the revitalization of downtown Brooklyn and a major intermodal transportation facility.
