JFK International Airport
Red Lot Parking Facility
The Red Lot parking facility has been designed to complement the newly constructed Air-train Station Rotunda and the American Airlines Terminal at the JFK International Airport.

Framed by the infrastructure of the Air-train guideway and airport roadway networks, the new 6 level facility will be located on the site of the current Terminal 8 & 9 parking lot. The parking garage includes ground level parking and five elevated decks of approximately 160,000 sf each and will accommodate a total of approximately 2,300 vehicles.

A double-threaded helix ramp will address the challenge of designing an open facility of this height by eliminating the need for long connecting ramps. Entrances and exits will be provided at each level, efficiently guiding the flow of traffic unbroken by cumbersome ramps.

Paramount to the design approach is providing pedestrians direct access to the adjacent Terminals both at street level and through an elevated connecting walkway. Elevators featuring glass cab and shaft enclosures, semi-open stair towers and an extruded metal composite-panel garage curtain wall are several design features which have been incorporated as advances in security and environmentsl "Green Design".
