The Monterey
Public Plaza and Roof Garden
The design of this slightly sunken residential plaza provides the passer-by and resident with a visual respite from their surroundings. The extensive and varied use of plant material, arranged in a formal maze-like garden, allows for passive enjoyment and an articulated response to the building and site. In this way the space reflects the dialogue that exists between street, public and private space: The subtle connection and transition that exists between them.
