New P.S. 483 Welcomed by Community

Friday, October 9th marked the ribbon-cutting ceremony at P.S. 483, which also served as a tribute to the late Police Officer Robert V. Oswain, for whom the school has been named. Along with heartfelt words from the community, school, and New York City Police Department, the students gave a short musical performance to commemorate the day.

dD+P designed an extensive adaptive renovation of the former Catholic school for use as a new Public School to serve Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grades. All classrooms were upgraded to meet today’s standard of teaching, offering flexible layouts and current equipment to maximize the students' learning experience. The building now also includes a state-of-the-art library, cafeteria, and multipurpose space which acts as a “gymatorium.” In addition to the overall building modernization, circulation was dramatically improved with a new welcoming entrance and playful color-coded floors.
