Dulles Corridor Metrorail Extension

di Domenico + Partners provided Urban Design services to the extension of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail. Many of the design elements take aesthetic cues from both the existing Metro stations designed by architect Harry Weese and the landscape of northern Virginia, influencing the large open mezzanines that create a veranda overlooking what will become reshaped pedestrian communities. The landscape is further expressed in the branch-like quality of the trusses that bridge from the station to the entry pavilions along the route. dD+P was retained through the completion of Phase I Preliminary Design. The first five stations are complete and open to the public.
